100% Sangiovese Grosso, Corte Pavone Rosso di Montalcino is made from younger vines than some of its Brunello brothers. It is aged in large Slavonian casks, mid-sized Austrian barrels and small French barriques – all oak – for a total of one year. Deep rich in colour this impressive Rosso offers lush aromas of coffee, spice, tobacco and dark fruit. It is Smooth, fat and voluminous. On the palate, intense cherry, leather and underbrush notes highlight this complex red, which is balanced and long with a tobacco accent, sweet spices on the finish and nicely balanced acidity. Excellent value for the quality it will develop in the bottle for a decade and more.
